Font - 2 AITA for not letting a kid eat a ham sandwich in a vegan restaurant The story is mostly in the title. I was working in a vegan restaurant that offered a wide variety of vegan foods, savoury sweet etc. It had been a vegan cafe for years and all the branding made clear it was fully vegan (written on menus, signs etc) Obviously there is a general expectation on most places like this that you don't eat food not bought on the premises, but obviously we waive it for kids and their special foo

Font - One day some women came in for lunch and one had a child about 4 years old. They ordered and asked for a plate for the kid's sandwich. This is already a more substantial meal than what we usually expect but whatever. When I take their food over I realise that the kid is eating a ham sandwich (quite obvious as the kid is ripping it up and spreading bits about etc). I tell the women that meat can't be eaten on the premises (this was inside) and they need to put the stuff back in the tupperw

Font - They get angrier and say they'll take their meals to go and won't be back. On the way out they shout that l'm disgusting for depriving a child of its food. I can see their point, but also think they should have thought more before coming to our cafe. So reddit, AITA? EDIT: the owner has said kids food is fine if they are small kids and parents are eating, but even staff can't bring meat in if they choose to bring their own meals. There is a no meat or fish on site rule. They take pride in

Plant - On the way out they shout that I'm disgusting for depriving a child of its food. There are a ton of other places for the child to eat a ham sandwich. If the child goes hungry, that's on the parents, not on you. NTA. G Reply 1.5k ...

Font - Scary-Jeweler4984 · 15h NTA. Eating meat on a plate that is strictly for vegan food is unacceptable. The other meals you mentioned were baby food and a yogurt type meal, not PORK for crying out loud. Kids don't belong everywhere and other's shouldn't have to accommodate because of a kid. If he wont eat a vegetarian/vegan option, then he doesn't belong in that restaurant. Don't take your kid to a bar and get mad when people are drinking and don't take your kid to a vegan restaurant and fee

Font - scarlettslegacy • 8h NTA. I used to work at a place that was gf and catered to a bunch of allergies. The amount we caved on the gf thing was ridiculous (offering beer, letting ppl bring their own cakes in). If ppl truly cant respect a venues core dietry restriction, you're better off without them. Rectangle - Alseids · 6h NTA it's a vegan restaurant. The parent should have had more sense with the meal choice or gone to a non vegan restaurant where her child's meal wouldn't be a potential disturbance to the other patrons. This whole situation was foreseeable and avoidable. G Reply ...

Font - Nerfed_Donut1 · 6h NTA Well you have the right to refuse service to anyone, that is on private property. I'm a HUGE meat lover, I can't even begin to fathom how vegans live without any kind of meat at all BUT I've got not problem with vegans. Him and his mom should've known that they were walking into a vegan store and should've been prepared to be kicked out over ham. It's like me being allergic to peanut butter yet you bring peanut butter to my house and eat it next to me. and G Reply .

Font - LiffeyDodge · 11h I'm torn here. On one hand it's a vegan restaurant. If the parents don't think the food is kid friendly, go someplace else. But, if you have a policy that outside food is allowed for kids, why is this particular kid's food choice not allowed. The dishes are washed after each use, right? G Reply 4 42 3 ...

Font - jenkemeater619 · 11h As a vegetarian who eats at a lot of vegan places, I think YTA. I have a kid & I know 4 year olds can be extremely picky. Im sure theres was nothing the kid would have eaten on the menu & your boss said its ok for small kids to eat meat. Your boss literally said it was ok & you still basically told them they couldn't be in there. G Reply 1 166 3 ...
